Description - Written as a novel by a serving officer the characters and their degeneracy were so clearly identifyable that its publication in Germany led to the arrest, a court marshall and the imprisonment of its author for six months and his expulsion from the German army. The English edition makes 301 pages the last section of which comprises extracts from the court marshall proceedings against Lieutenant Bilse. Red cloth covers with bright black and gilt decoration.
